The job of the governor is to execute and enforce the laws of the state. Maine’s residents overwhelmingly voted to expand MaineCare and accept the federal funds available. For Gov. Paul LePage to refuse to do so is an insult to the voters. If he had many months left in office, I would call for his impeachment.
Good idea or not, the expansion was the will of the voters. If he does not enforce the laws, who will?
Now, he wants the taxpayers to pay a lawyer to fight this. He should pay for his own lawyer.
