As a longtime resident of Lewiston-Auburn, I wish to comment on the turmoil in the hospital community.
Some time ago, I had a serious medical event requiring hospitalization and treatment. There were no beds at either hospital in Lewiston with the needed physician coverage, so I was safely and efficiently transferred to Maine General Hospital in Augusta.
Maine General did a wonderful job and I was thoroughly pleased with my care and outcomes. However, is that what the residents of the second largest community in Maine should expect, because agreements can’t be made, patients must, under some circumstances, be moved to Portland or Augusta?
