DIXFIELD — The lights have dimmed and the shadows grow long as we announce with great sadness the passing of Adam Gregory Gatchell, 29. He has gone to be with his uncle, Greg. He was a father, son, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to many.

Adam was born in Farmington on July 19, 1989, the son of David and Bonnie (Child) Gatchell. He was a graduate of Dirigo High School in Dixfield, where he was on the varsity wrestling and football teams, and played each with passion and desire. He also attended Region 9 Building Trades classes. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, his family and his tractor.

Following graduation, Adam worked for several construction companies in Maine and New Hampshire, working from Maine to Florida. His most recent employment was with Irving Forest Products in Dixfield in the maintenance department.

Please have compassion for people with addictions, they still love and honor their family and friends. No one knows the demons of addiction except those going through it. Please find peace and happiness in the next world, dear Adam. You were greatly loved and will be missed.

Survivors include his daughter, Amora Gatchell, of Peru; his special daughter, Carleigh Smith, of Peru; his fiancée, Kayleigh Daley, of Peru; his parents David and Bonnie Gatchell of Peru; paternal grandfather, Leslie Gatchell, and his wife, Betty, of Jay; paternal grandmother, Geraldine Gatchell, of Oxford; maternal grandparents Edwin and Belle Child of Peru; and special nieces Sayge Smith and Maryjane Child of Peru.

Friends and family are invited to sign the online guestbook and share memories with the family at www.meaderandson.com.
