GRAY — Maine Wildlife Park will offer free admission to grandparents who are accompanied by their grandchildren Sunday, Sept. 9.
Regular entrance fees for all other family members will be in effect.
Gov. Arch Moore established Grandparents Day in 1973 in West Virginia. In 1978, five years after its West Virginia inception, the United States Congress passed legislation proclaiming the first Sunday after Labor Day as National Grandparents Day. President Jimmy Carter signed it.
