ROCKPORT — Alice S Keene, 86, a former resident of Leeds and Jefferson, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 7, at Sussman Hospice House in Rockport, with her loving family by her side. She was born on Dec. 16, 1931, the daughter of Albert E. Seymour and Marie (Dumont) Seymour.

Alice attended school in Old Town and Auburn. On March 29, 1952 she married James T. Keene, Sr. at Keisler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. They enjoyed 53 wonderful years together before his passing on November 30, 2005. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, and spending time with children. She was also an avid reader.

Alice was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter – Day Saints in Monmouth. She is survived by her son, James T. Keene, Jr. and wife Kathy of Richmond, TX. Four daughters; Susan Hershberger and husband Kevin of Mt. Gilead, NC., Donna Murphy and husband Michael of Jefferson, Edith “Deedee” Keene of Raleigh, NC, Marie Evans and husband Brandon of Southaven, MS., her grandchildren; Brandon Chaloux, Angela Coble, April Murphy and Meghan Davis, Josh, Hannah and Jacob “Jack” Keene, and Gage, Logan and JT Evans, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents, her loving husband, James T. Keene, Sr., grandson Tim Keene, 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter – Day Saints, 1182 Main Street, Monmouth. Visiting hours 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12th, at Bragdon-Finley Funeral Home, 707 Main St., Monmouth. Interment at Maine Veterans Cemetery Augusta, Maine.
