100 Years Ago: 1918
 
The crowds at Auburn Hall, last night, would have inspired any of the politicians interested in the recent campaign if they could have delivered one of their addresses to such an audience. The Fort Williams band gave one of the best concerts ever heard in these cities. They also ran a moving picture “The Re-Making of a Nation,” showing the reception of the rookies at Camp Sherman, Chillicothe, Ohio, and their development into a soldier. 
 
50 Years Ago: 1968
 
Personnel to staff the Goff Hill Code Enforcement project are being sought by the Auburn city government, according to an announcement Thursday. The office of Auburn City Manager Woodbury E. Brackett and Arthur O. Clark, city planner-  engineer, called for persons interested to make application to the city manager’s office. Among staff positions are a project director, two housing directors, a rehabilitation specialist, community relations specialist, financing specialists, two clerks and a building inspector.
 
25 Years Ago: 1993
 
Zachary Hodgson of South Paris was judged the overall winner of the Oxford County Fair Baby Show on opening day here Sunday. Other winners were Nathaniel Petrucelli of Oxford and Corrie Bernatchez of Auburn, according to chairman Jackie Conant of Canton. All the entrants flashed their smiles, showed their dimples and some danced for judges. The show was among the numerous events which began the 148th exhibition. Officials said attendance equaled last year’s opening day numbers.
