The citizens of Maine are looking down the double barrels of a possible Brett Kavanaugh appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court. Maine’s Sen. Susan Collins says women’s rights are important to her, but then shoring up insurance markets were important to her, as well, and everyone knows how well that worked out.

Now, she is having conversations with Kavanaugh, who is alleged to have lied under oath during previous confirmation hearings. It isn’t her fault that he might be lying, but it is her fault if she believes him.

She shouldn’t be considering him for the Supreme Court. She should be looking for ways to throw him off his seat on the federal court — he isn’t the kind of person she should look to advance. He is the kind of person to get rid of.

There are hundreds of judges across the nation — perfectly upright conservative judges — who would be suitable for the job and who, unlike Kavanaugh, could be trusted.

Sen. Collins is looking down an abyss. Sure, Kavanaugh’s statements might sound sweet and might be tempting; however, the people of Maine — those whom she is supposed to be serving — deserve far better than getting dragged down with her. No one is buying the future story where she got “snookered” again, and the nation doesn’t need to have Kavanaugh forced upon it.
