Halloween party planning meeting

CHESTERVILLE — The North Chesterville Extension Homemakers will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, in the Town Office on Dutch Gap Road. The topics are program planning for 2019, choosing the penguin-themed ornament and planning the Chesterville Town Halloween Party. The public is invited.

Historical society meeting

OXFORD — The Oxford Historical Society, 73 Pleasant St., will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, followed by a presentation by Marcia and Dick Cylick on the “Events of Civil War” at 6:30 p.m. The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War of the Hannah F. Richardson No. 19, of Stoneham will also attend.

The public is invited to attend and new members are always welcome to join the society for $5 per year.

November calendar fundraiser

HEBRON — Hebron Historical Society is holding a calendar fundraiser to help pay for repairs and upgrades to its building. The November calendar features prize drawings for each day of the month, with each buyer eligible to win multiple prizes, certificates or items from area businesses. The $10 calendars will be available for sale through Oct. 31 at the Town Office or from any society director.

Hobby groups resuming at Caswell Conservancy
 
HARRISON — Groups for knitting, crocheting and other hobbies using yarn will resume meeting from 1 to 3 p.m. every Monday at the Caswell Conservancy Center, Main Street. The group is open to all, whether experienced or a beginner. 
 
 
Free range shooting for veterans

SOUTH PARIS — Norway/Paris Fish & Game Association welcomes veterans to shoot at the range on the Buckfield Road on Oct. 1 for free. The shooting starts at 9 a.m. with lunch provided. Space is limited, so call Alan Paradis at 207-364-6509 for a spot.

Blessing of the Animals

NORWAYParishioners of Christ Episcopal Church in Norway and Trinity Lutheran Church in South Paris invite all to an Animal Blessing at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Christ Church, 35 Paris St. Also included is an opportunity to remember animals lost in the past year and entrust them into God’s mercy. Organizers will accept donations for Responsible Pet Care, both financial and in-kind.
