SABATTUS — Rita Amanda D’Amour, 91, of Sabattus left this world to be with our Lord on Saturday, Sept. 1. She had been fighting a very courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease for nearly 30 years.

On July 2, 1951, she was married at Holy Family Church in Lewiston to the love of her life, Richard T. D’Amour. They went on to have three lovely daughters with whom Rita loved spending time and to whom she was very devoted. Rita also loved her Pomeranian, Beau, and was known to take him along with her whenever possible.

Early in life, Rita had worked at a shoe shop and also Pepperell Mill of Auburn. Later, she had been employed at Gypsum Paper of Lisbon Falls and Maine Electronics of Lisbon. In the ‘70s she stopped working in order to fully devote her time to raising her children.

Rita is predeceased by her parents, her husband Richard D’Amour of Sabattus, daughter Joann Bennett of Buckfield, daughter Joline Moody of Sabattus, her brother Raymond Baril of Lewiston and a sister Theresa Baril of Lewiston.

Survivors include her daughter Jill and her husband Daniel Malesiewski of Lisbon, a granddaughter Danielle Malesiewski of Lisbon and her fiance Andrew Lamarre, son-in-law Andrew and grandson Lorne Bennett of Buckfield and a grandson James Ramsey of Nebraska. Rita is also survived by her brother Ralph and his wife Venise Baril of Lewiston along with many nieces and nephews from both the D’Amour and Baril families.

A committal service will be held Friday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Mausoleum Chapel, Switzerland Road, Lewiston.
