FARMINGTON — Robert Armandi, 96, a resident of Jay, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, Sept. 27, at Sandy River Center in Farmington.

He was born Aug. 3, 1922, in Santo Padre, Italy, the son of Armando and Germaine (Pouchain) Armandi. He graduated from Jay High School in 1940, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Maine. He proudly served his country during World War II in Europe.

In 1949, he married Lucille White at St. Peter and Paul Church in Lewiston. They enjoyed 46 years of marriage, before her passing May 29, 1995. Robert worked for International Paper Co. in the storeroom, and retired in 1983. He was a communicant at St. Rose of Lima Church and a member of the VFW Frank L. Mitchell Post 3335, the Sons of Italy of America and the Quarter Century Club at International Paper. He was a charter member on the board of directors at Otis Federal Credit Union for 40 years.

He is survived by his sons Richard H. McKinney and wife, Ramona, of Jay; Conrad A. Armandi and wife, Glenda, of DeLand, Fla.; Marcus R. Armandi and wife, Patricia; and Gregory J. Armandi and Cynthia of Jay; his daughter, Marianne C. Pham, of Bothell, Wash.; his brother, Raymond Armandi, of Eustis; sisters Irene Hebert of Jay, and Therese Therrien and husband, Roland, of Jay; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 980 Turner St., Auburn.
