LEWISTON — Looking for some fall fun? Museum L-A invites you to the historic Bates Mill for two different seasonal programs with a spooky twist: “Story Tellers Unhinged” and “Chills at the Mill.”
Mainely Improv is set to perform “Story Tellers Unhinged” and a taste of improv comedy at 7:30 pm. Friday, Oct. 12. This evening features actors Julie Poulin, Amanda Kinsey, Brian Files and Dan Marois acting out a variety of funny and frightening stories with zany comic antics included.
“We take interesting stories and act them out with improvised comedy using any idea that comes to mind in the moment,” says Dan Marois. “Our stories can be light-hearted, serious, spooky and outrageous as we add our own spontaneous mix of humor. We guarantee that our stories are nothing like the ones your parents read to you.”
Doors will open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be reserved online or purchased at the door. Cider and donuts included.
For even more Halloween thrills, you can join Museum L-A for “Chills at the Mill,” an unforgettable behind-the-scenes spooky tour of the Bates Mill, on Thursday, Oct. 18, and Friday, Oct. 19. We’ll travel into some forgotten parts of the building and share some stories of the more gruesome and creepy history about the mills that you have probably never heard.
Tours will last approximately 45 minutes and will start and end at Baxter Brewing Co., 130 Mill St. There is parking in the Lincoln Street parking garage, free after 5 p.m. Tours are $10 per person and include $2 off the cost of a pint of Baxter beer (21-plus).
On each night, the tours leave every half hour and only have room for 20 people, Tours leave every half hour and have a maximum capacity of 20 people. It is recommended you reserve your time slot ahead of time by calling the museum. You can also pay when you arrive.

Museum L-A is currently in the Bates Mill Complex at 35 Canal St. Its hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Special tour requests and large group tours outside of these hours are available by appointment.
