Bethel Seniors to meet

BETHEL — Bethel Senior Citizen Club meeting will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Funky Red Barn, 19 Summer St. The menu will be prime rib or baked fish and the price is $15. Please call Donna Douglass at 207-824-2591 with your choice before Sept 30.

World Communion Sunday celebration

EAST STONEHAM — Waterford, North Waterford and East Stoneham churches will celebrate World Communion Sunday on Oct. 7. The service starts at 10 a.m. at the East Stoneham Church on Route 5, led by Rev. Leslie Chatfield and Rev. Petra Smythe. The international communion service will feature seven different kinds of bread from around the world. A coffee hour will follow. All are welcome.

 
Daughters of Isabella meeting

RUMFORD — St. Timothy’s Circle 504, Daughters of Isabella, will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9 at Holy Savior Parish Hall. Chairpersons are Dot Benedix and Sylvia Touchette. Committee members are Janette Blouin and Kelly Beauchesne.

The Daughters are being asked to donate non-perishable items, homemade items, or cash donations for their Holiday Food Basket. Bring goods or donations to the October or November meetings. They are also selling tickets for homemade Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy dolls with wicker chairs. Tickets for the dolls are available by contacting Lisa Doherty or Debbie Dorr. Raffle tickets for the basket and dolls will be sold after the 9:30 Masses at the monthly breakfasts, The winners will be drawn on Dec. 9 for both raffles.

Official Visitation at Grange-Masonic Hall

WALES — Lakeside Chapter 60, O. E. S., will meet at the Grange-Masonic Hall, 322 Centre Road at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9 for their Official Visitation. The Official Visitation Officer, Sister Evelyn Cookson, Associate Grand Conductress, will be assisted by Sister Linda E. Gray, District Deputy Grand Matron of District 4. The books of the Chapter will be reviewed and there will be some instruction offered. The Worthy Matron, Secretary and Conductresses are requested to be there at 6 p.m. to assist.

All members are welcome. Light refreshments will be served after the meeting.

PERU —The Peru Historical Society will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Peru Historical Society building.

Historical society to hold annual meeting

DIXFIELD  — The Dixfield Historical Society will hold its Annual Meeting on
Thursday, Oct. 11. The business meeting and election of officers and re-appointment of directors will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Museum House, 59 Main St. Immediately following, the Society will sponsor the 2nd annual Dixfield Trivia Night. The public is invited to come and join the fun.

Samuel Howes to speak at historical society
 
BUCKFIELD — The Buckfield Historical Society will have Samuel Howes as the guest speaker on Thursday, Oct. 11. at the Buckfield Town Hall. Howes is with the Maine Archives and has worked with the Jay Historical Society. Social hour starts at 6 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7. Open to the public, come and see what the Historical Society has been working on.
