The New York Aviators rebounded from an early two-goal hole and scored the only two goals of the third period to beat the Twin City Thunder 4-3 at Cyclones Arena in Hudson, New Hampshire, on Sunday.
Filimon Ledenkov tied the game for the Aviators two minutes into the third, and Kevin Lillstrom-Stenroos scored the game-winner midway through the period.
Jeremy Rancourt and Nick Malik had staked the Thunder to a 2-0 lead after one period.
The Aviators closed up that deficit by the 12-minute mark of the second period with goals by Danylo Sukhonos and Deiter Strange, but Cooper Davis gave the Thunder the lead back with just over three minutes left before the second intermission.
Rancourt’s goal was his first in a Thunder uniform for the Lewiston native. Zachary Simpson assisted on the play. Derric Trudeau and Zachary Desmarais tallied helpers on Malik’s goal, while Davis’ goal — also his first — was unassisted.
Jona Hildreth and Andrew Dreher each had two assists, including both helping on Sukhonos’ goal, while Jack Kroll had one for the Aviators.
Savelli Morozov made 21 saves in the win, and Derek Fournier stopped 30 of 34 shots for the Thunder, who, like the Aviators, were 0-for-4 on the power play.
