FARMINGTON — Join the Franklin County Children’s Task Force on their scenic walk through town this Saturday, October 13, for the 28 annual Make Tracks for Kids 2-mile Walk and Kids Fun Run.
“Walkers and teams are encouraged to receive pledges from their friends, colleagues and family. All donations will support children and families in Franklin County,” Community Coordinator Rileigh Blanchet said.
Make Tracks for Kids is the biggest annual fundraiser for FCCTF.
The task force is a “private, not-for-profit corporation committed to strengthening families and preventing child abuse and neglect through mobilizing community resources and advocating for and providing services that promote healthy children and families.”
FCCTF programs include parent education, home visits, support groups, clothing exchange and after-school programming in Regional School Unit 9 and Maine School Administrative District 58.
This year, any team who receives $100 or more in pledged donations will be entered in a raffle to receive a free Apple iPad.
“An Apple iPad is a great tool for children to learn about science, technology, engineering, and math, which is one of the areas of focus in the 21st Century Kids of FRANKLIN and Northern FRANKLIN Programs, Blanchet said.
Registration is at 8:30 a.m. at the FCCTF office, 113 Church St. Kids Fun Run is at 8:45 a.m. and the walk begins at 9:00 a.m. The route begins on Church St., goes to Mt. Blue Middle School, and circles back to the Children’s Task Force.
Pledge sheets can be found at www.fcctf.org or may be filled out the day of the event. Please call (207)778-6960 with any questions.
