Merrimack, NH – Joan Marie Jameson passed away on the morning of Thursday, October 11th, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 86.

Joan began her life in Mexico, ME on August 30, 1932 as the fourth child of her late parents, George and Albertha (St. Onge) Allen. Growing up in a loving family of 8 children, she was raised with a hard work ethic and deep family values.  After graduating Lewiston High School, her first job was at Peck’s department store, where she met Gil, the love of her life.  They married in 1952 and moved to California, where they started their family and worked for Lockheed.

They returned to Maine in 1960 and eventually settled in Westborough, MA. where Joan focused on raising her three children and her career in education.  Joan worked in the Westborough School District for 11 years as an esteemed assistant in special education and kindergarten, often filling in as lead teacher.  In 1978 they moved to Brunswick, ME, where she helped establish the successful Jameson Allstate Insurance agency with her husband and worked as a Senter’s retail associate.  Upon retirement, they spent winters in Wildwood, FL, where they enjoyed traveling, golfing, playing bridge and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Wildwood Country Club and the Continental Country Club.  Her most treasured times were with family at their cherished camp on beautiful Pocasset Lake in Wayne, ME. Joan was above all a devoted mother, wife and grandmother. She was also an Elvis enthusiast, Patriots fanatic, authority in the kitchen, talented seamstress, and impressive on the dance floor to big band music. Joan also enjoyed golf, playing bridge, skiing and skating.

Joan will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children, Gilbert Jr. (Debbie), Cheryl, and Timothy (Cathy), her siblings, Robert (Pauline), Norman (Claudette), Diane, Jimmy (Lolly), Richard and brother-in-law John. She will be fondly remembered as Grammy by her ten grandchildren, Gilbert III (Katrina), Amy (Aaron), Sean, Kristen (Tim), Christina, Tracey, Craig, Caitlyn, Staci, Rachel, as well as seven great-grandchildren, and forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Joan was predeceased by her beloved husband Gilbert Edward Jameson, sister Annie, brother George, sister-in-laws Theresa, Diane and Lee, brother-in-law Dana, and son-in-law Randall.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Joan will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 16th at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 132 McKeen St., Brunswick, ME. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetary in Brunswick.
