I am writing to express my support for Janet Mills. As a physician, I have seen the effects of limited access to health care, inadequate reimbursements to local hospitals and the devastating effects of opioid dependency. Mills is the only candidate who has a viable plan to deal with those problems.
Mills will follow the will of the people and implement the expansion of Medicaid in Maine, just as 34 other states have successfully done. That will retain and create jobs in the health care field, keep rural hospitals open and allow access for thousands of Mainers into primary-care-based medicine.
Her plan to expand medical services would include drug treatment programs to help motivated patients defeat their dependency and become productive members of society.
As far as enforcement of drug laws, I don’t think anyone could do better than a former district attorney in that regard.
