RUMFORD — Rylee Sevigny scored two goals and Leigha Carrier tallied what proved to be the winning goal as top-seeded Mountain Valley dominated the second half to defeat No. 8 Traip Academy, 5-1, in a Class C South field hockey quarterfinal on Wednesday.

The two teams battled to a 1-1 tie at halftime on goals by Traip’s Elly Young and Ariana Viger. Carrier put the Falcons (12-3) in front for good early in the second half and opened the flood gates for both of Rylee Sevigny’s goals and one by her sister, Avery Sevigny, who also had two assists.

Traip (1-15) goaltender Nicole Roberts made 21 saves.

Cloe Ledesma and Faith Riddick each added an assist for the Falcons, who outshot the Rangers, 26-2 and had 10 penalty corners to none for Traip. Nora Tag had one save in the cage for Mountain Valley, which will host No. 5 St. Dom’s in the semifinals.

Girls’ Soccer

Mt. Blue 2, Cony 0

FARMINGTON — Emma White and Macey Phillips each scored a goal to lead the Mt. Blue girls soccer team to a 2-0 win over Cony in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game Wednesday.

Phillips added an assist for the Cougars. Hali Swiney had four saves for the shutout for Mt. Blue (3-10-1).

Kiara Henry had 13 saves for the Rams (0-13-1).

Boys’ Soccer

Mt Abram 4, Carrabec 0

SALEM — Mt. Abram got four goals from four different scorers in the first half and crusied to a 4-0 victory over Carrabec in MVC boys’ soccer  action.

Kenyon Pillsbury, Tyson Hill, Hunter Bate and JB Jordan found the back of the net for the Roadrunners, who outshot the Cobras, 18-2. Jack Deming and Ian Allen split time in net for the Roadrunners to secure the shutout.
