TURNER — The MSAD 52 district schools will be holding a series of classes on home craft ideas for the holidays. 

The following workshops have been scheduled:

Fused Glass Panel Workshop — Thursday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Random Pottery, Harrison. Instructor Lynn Curran-Sargent of Random Pottery will teach participants how to create one or two of their own fused glass 6-by-8-inch panel with a copper wire hanger. There are several designs to choose one or folks may create their own. Material and firing included in class price. Fee is $45. Registration is required.

Round or Square Basket Making — Thursday, Oct. 25, and Wednesday, Nov. 8, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Leavitt Area High School. Participants will learn to create a 6-inch round or square basket for the holiday season. All supplies for one basket are included in the material fee. Bring a dishpan or large pot to hold water, clothespins and a towel. Fee is $35 and $12 for materials, paid to instructor at first class.

Make Goat Milk Soap — Thursdays, Nov. 11 and 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Turner Adult Learning Center. Transform common kitchen ingredients into hand-crafted soap. On night one, they will discuss the science of soap making, safety tips, tools and ingredients. Then, using a basic recipe, they will combine vegetable oils and goat milk into a simple soap that cannot be found in the grocery store. On the second night, they will expand the repertoire by adding the color, scent and/or exfoliant of one’s choice. Each participant will go home with several bars of soap and the skills to make their own from now on.

Create Your Own Pottery — Thursday, Nov. 8, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the new studio, Moon Stone Pottery & Elementals in Auburn. Learn wheel-throwing techniques, hand building and the process of glazing and firing. Expect to make small bowls and cups and serving dishes. Michelle Bailey Gibbert owns Moon Stone Pottery, which hosts paint parties, clay classes, wheel throwing lessons and also has an open studio.

Holiday Wreath Making — Wednesday, Nov. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sweet Pea Designs in Lewiston. Keep the tradition going and learn to make a holiday wreath. Laurie-Anne Ouellette is from Sweet Pea Designs located in Lewiston, Maine. Sweet Pea Designs creates first-rate and one of a kind floral designs.

Pottery Paint Night: Holiday Tree — Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Leavitt Area High School. Create a doodle dots paint splatter for holiday gatherings. It can be a personalized gift to give away to family or friends and a keepsake platter that can be passed down for generations. Fee is $35 and a material fee of $15 paid to instructor.
