James Wilson Scrivner

1937 – 2018

Buckfield – James Wilson Scrivner, Senior Chief Petty Officer, Retired E8, of Buckfield passed away on Sunday, October 21 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Cleveland, Mississippi on May 29, 1937 the son of Freddie C. and Emma Lee Young Scrivner. He was an aviation electronics specialist in the U. S. Navy, serving our country for twenty-two and a half years. He traveled around the world, places like Italy, Iceland, Finland and more. He was enlisted during the Vietnam war, spending time on airplanes and ships, such as the U. S. Kittyhawk, USS Saratoga, and the America Ship. Upon retiring he made Maine his home. He was employed by Country Kitchen as a mechanic foreman. He also worked for Webster Engineering as a specialist in hydraulics and refrigeration. He was a member of the American Legion Post #58 in Buckfield.
He married Susan E. Williams, sharing thirty-five years together. They share a daughter, Jamie, whom was also one of many caregivers.
When able, he enjoyed attending Calvary Baptist Church, camping, hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his five grandchildren, Kayleb, Dusty, James Wilson, (his name sake), Joshua and Jasmine Paquette; his little “June Bug”, as he nicknamed her because she was born on June 1st., Jenny Paquette, whom he adopted from Korea when she was five years old; and his beloved nephew, Eugene Wilkerson and wife Linda of Mississippi. He leaves behind his wife of Buckfield; his daughter, Jamie; his brother Freddie Lee and wife Lounez; his sisters, Zena and Louise and husband James; as well as his children, Jenny, Wendy, Cindy, Tammy and Randy; grandchildren; and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother; and his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 27 at 2 p.m .at the Calvary Baptist Church in Turner with interment to follow at Damon Cemetery in Buckfield.
