The Orono girls cross country team’s dynasty continued, with the squad winning its fifth State C Title in the past six years on Saturday.
On a rainy day and a Monday course, the Red Riots tallied 41 points take the crown. Runnerup Maranacook scored 66 points, and Maine Coast Waldorf was third with 81 points.
Erin Gerbi and Camille Kohtala paced Orono with a three-four finish. The Red Riots placed five runners in the top 16.
The Orono boys, meanwhile were denied a third straight state title, this year coming in second. Maine Coast Waldorf was the top team in Class C, with 72 points. The Red Riots were 16 points back, with 88. Thorin Saucier led Orono with a 13th place finish.
