RUMFORD – Pauline Weeks, 91, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at the Rumford Community Home, Rumford.

Pauline was born in Augusta on Oct. 17, 1927, and was adopted as a baby by Thomas and Jesse (Price) Blanchard and raised in Millinocket. She graduated from Stearns High School Class of 1945 and from Farmington State Teacher’s College Class of 1950, as a member of the first four years degree program to graduate from that college. While in college she met and later married (Sewell) Benjamin Weeks on August 30, 1952.

Pauline was a teacher at East Millinocket (1year), Houlton (1year), St. Albans (1year) Farmington (4 years), Northport (3 years), and at Rumford where she taught 3rd grade for 15 years; taking time off between Farmington and Northport to raise her two children until they started school.

Pauline was an active member in many organizations right up until the time of her stroke in April of 2014 and admission to the Rumford Community Home. She was a faithful member of the Nazarene Church of Dixfield for many years, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Pianist, and Board Member.

Pauline was a member of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension for 50 years, during which time she served as an Executive Board Member for six years. As a part of this organization she served as a 4H Leader for 25 years, as the President of the Oxford County Extension Homemakers for three years, and as a the President of the Canton Chapter of the Cooperative Women’s Extension Group in 2006, where she was a member for 27 years. She also served as a Dixfield School Board Member for 12 years.

One of Pauline’s greatest passions and hobbies was quilting. She actively participated in Grammies Choice Group, Ladies of the Lake Group, Rumford Area Quilters, and State Pine Tree Quilters Association for as many as 30 years.

Pauline was predeceased by her husband Sewell Benjamin (1981); and her daughter Judi Weeks (2013). She is survived by her son Thomas Weeks lives with his wife Paula in North Yarmouth; grandchildren Dan Carrier and his wife Jessica of Peru, Angela Veilleux of Waterville, Joshua Weeks of LA, Kristin Weeks of Iowa; great-grandchildren Jessie Carrier, Justin Jasper, Ellie Jasper, and Jarren Veilleux.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of The Nazarene, Weld St. in Dixfield.  Interment will be in the Farrington Morton Cemetery in Mexico.  Friends are invited to call at the MEADER & SON FUNERAL HOME 3 Franklin St Rumford, ME on Wednesday from 3-6 p.m.
