Veterans Day celebration, special presentation
AUGUSTA — The VA Maine Healthcare System invites the public to celebrate Veterans Day from 8 to 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, on the Togus campus. The ceremony will be held at 1 VA Center, in the main hospital lobby and by the flagpole.
Randall Liberty, veteran, former sheriff of Kennebec County and current warden of the Maine State Prison, will present a 7-foot-tall bald eagle hand-carved by an incarcerated master craftsman. It will be dedicated to honorable veterans of the State of Maine.
‘Tiny Timber’ tree lighting
NEW GLOUCESTER — The annual New Gloucester Tree Lighting call Tiny Timber will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at the Town Hall, Route 231.
The Gray-New Gloucester High School Chorus will perform and the New Gloucester History Barn will hold an open house. Refreshments will be available at the public library.
College planning workshop offered
The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host the following free workshops titled Essentials of College Planning for adults 19 and older:
Wilton: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the Wilton Career Center, 865 U.S. Route 2 East.
Lewiston: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, and Thursday, Dec. 20, at the Lewiston CareerCenter, 5 Mollison Way.
