Edward L. Roy

1927 – 2018

LEWISTON – Edward L. Roy, 91, of Lewiston, Maine, passed Nov. 11, 2018, on Veterans Day, with his loving family by his side.

Edward, along with Robert, was born to Romeo and Florence (Lachapelle) Roy, Oct. 24, 1927 in Taunton, Mass. He graduated from Lewiston High School, subsequently joined the U.S. Army, and served in the Korean War from 1950-1952. Upon his return home, he married the love of his life Constance Bergeron on Sept. 1, 1952. During their 66 years of marriage, they were blessed with seven children, 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. As a man of the “Greatest Generation”, he illustrated the true meaning of living in God’s way, he lived his life with extreme pride and integrity which ended up to be the best gift he ever gave his children.

He leaves as his legacy seven children: Annie Marie Roy, David Roy (predeceased), Donna Deschene and husband Donald, Edward L. Roy Jr., Karen Shaw and husband Peter, and Paul Roy and wife Yvette; and his grandchildren, whom dearly loved their “Pepere”: Jennifer Bouchard, Tammy Tosti, Danielle Carr, Angela Nagle, Diana Friedlund, Casey Begin, Matthew Shaw, Jeremy Shaw, Jennifer Shaw, Sonya Grass and Evan  Roy. His loving family and friends remember Eddie as a devout Catholic and husband who was kind, helpful, outgoing, friendly and knew how much he enjoyed tinkering around in his backyard, simply sitting on the back deck enjoying the company of his wife, Connie (his princess), listening to the Red Sox on the radio, going to the ocean, casino with a dollar in his pocket and family gatherings Eddie often mentioned that after his wife and children, his Honor Flight trip was a highlight of his life.
