LEWISTON – Irene Marcella Chouinard, 104, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018. Irene was born in Lewiston, on Oct. 23, 1914, to Camilla (Robitaille) and Henry Boisvert, and was the oldest of five children.

She resided in Lewiston her entire life, and attended St. Joseph’s school and Lewiston High School. Irene went on to marry her soulmate, Arthur W. Chouinard, and raised six children of her own.

Irene was a loving and devoted wife and mother who adored her family. Irene’s passion was being a homemaker, which included keeping her house spotless, cooking homemade meals for her family, knitting, sewing and making clothing for her children. In addition, Irene took care of the bookkeeping for her husband’s mason contracting business.  Irene always enjoyed resting at the end of a busy day reading her newspaper and snacking on potato chips. After retirement, Irene truly enjoyed her weekend sightseeing car rides with her husband and mother along Maine’s beautiful coastline. These rides often included lunch at any destination serving seafood and ice cream. Irene also always enjoyed a competitive game of cards. Her favorite was Skip-Bo, which she played right up until her last days.

She leaves behind three wonderful daughters, Camilla Bosse, Claire (Gloria) Chouinard, and Irene Therrien (and husband Rudy), and two wonderful sons, Wilfred (and wife Joan), Norman (and wife Joline). She also leaves behind four generations of grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur, who passed in 1989; and her son, Robert (Bob), who passed on Oct. 15, 2018.

Irene will be missed by many, including many friends and staff at Montello Manor Nursing Home where she resided for the past seven years. We want to extend a special “thank you” for the great care that Montello and Hospice provided for our mom, Irene.

Visitation will be held at The First Assembly of God Church on Hogan Road in Lewiston on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, from 6-7 p.m. The funeral service will follow at the church at 7 p.m.
