Daughters of Isabella party

JAY — The Daughters of Isabella, Circle 677, of St. Rose Parish in Jay will hold the Advent-Christmas Party on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at LaFleur’s Restaurant.

A social hour will begin at 5 p.m. with the meal being served at 6 p.m. The menu choices are pork, chicken, haddock or stuffed cabbage.

Following the meal will be an exchange of gifts; Daughters will find out who their mystery sisters are.

There will be no business meeting during the party. The next business meeting will be Jan. 9, 2019.

Honey bee club plans holiday potluck

PARIS — Oxford Hills Honey Bee Club will have its annual potluck holiday party at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Oxford County Extension Center, 9 Olson Road.

Those attending should bring a dish to share; OHHBC will supply ham and presents from Santa.

This will be the last 2018 club meeting. Election of 2019 club officers will take place.

OHCHS graduated earns merit scholarship

BEREA, Ohio — Maighread Laliberte of Norway was among nearly 600 first-year students at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, who claimed $7.7 million in merit scholarships.

Laliberte, a graduate of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School majoring in neuroscience biology and biology, earned a $17,000 President’s Scholarship based on outstanding academic achievements in high school.

The University’s merit scholarships are awarded to full-time students and are renewable up to four years with good academic and social standing.
