Marguerite Menard

1926 – 2018

Marguerite Menard passed away peacefully surrounded with her loving family on Nov. 25, 2018.

Marguerite was born in Lewiston, Maine to Dominique Pelletier and Albertine Croteau Pelletier on Dec. 30, 1926. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1945. Marguerite served as a WWII Cadet Nurse and graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital in 1948 as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of All Saints Parish in Brunswick, Maine.

On Nov. 18, 1950, Marguerite married Andre Menard at St. Peter’s Church in Lewiston, Maine. Marguerite and Andy, the “kindest” man in the world, were married for 66 years. The happy couple moved to Brunswick where they had four children. She worked in the Regional Memorial Hospital for 29 years, attaining the role of Supervisory Charge Nurse in the Emergency Room.

When Marguerite wasn’t caring for patients, she loved to cook and provide sumptuous meals in the French-Canadian tradition for her family and friends. She also devoted time to oil painting, board games, and above all, visiting with loved ones.

After Marguerite and Andy retired on the same day in 1990, they enjoyed traveling with friends on many trips throughout the United States and Canada. They often hosted their grandchildren for billiards, bike rides, family dinners, and wild-card games – with light-hearted accusations of passing cards being tossed about the room.

Marguerite was predeceased by her husband Andre Menard. Marguerite is survived by her four children, Gerald and his wife Catherine Menard, Roland and his wife Jeri Menard, Marc and his wife Susan Menard, and Therese and her husband Mark Green. Marguerite and Andy have nine grandchildren: Brian Menard, Julie Oakley, Douglas Menard, Matthew Menard, Emily Menard, Dale Menard, Shawn Menard, Abigail Baker, and Nathaniel Green and their spouses. They also have nine great-grandchildren: Zachary and Alyssa Menard, Aiden and Haley Oakley, Colin and Annie Menard, Clair and Lucy Menard, and Miles Menard.

We would like to thank the staff at Thornton Hall and Chans Hospice Care for their constant, compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Thornton Hall and the Garden Senior Health Center, Employee Appreciation Committee.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Nov. 30, 2018 at 1 p.m., at All Saints Parish, St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 132 McKeen Street, Brunswick, Maine.
