Roland Mathieu

 

1930 – 2018

 

LEWISTON – Roland Mathieu, 88, of Lewiston, died Sunday, Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2018 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the son of Wilfred Mathieu and Alice Mathieu St. Hilaire. He worked in the shoe industry for 30 years, before retiring in 1992. His hobbies included hunting, watching his sons play hockey, Red Sox and a huge fan of Boston Bruins. He loved going to the casino with his wife, Fernande.

 

“Dad, your life was love and labor, Your love for your family tree, You did the Best for all of us, We will always remember you. God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be, So he put his arms around you & whispered “Come To Me”. A golden heart stopped beating hard working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes “The Best”!!

 

Roland is survived by his loving wife, Fernande, of 65 years his two sons, Don Mathieu of Lewiston, Dan Mathieu & wife Debbie of Gray, & Matthew Martin,  3 Grandchildren, Derek & Wife Jennifer Mathieu of Windham, Evan & Kate Carlson of Casco, Ryan Brissette and Fiance Angela of Poland and 6 loving Great-Grandchildren, Emma, Grace, Sophie, Hunter, Tyler & Nataly. He was predeceased by his brother, Roger Mathieu, Mother & Father. Per his request, there will be No Services, But a mass will be said at St. Peter’s Cemetary in Lewiston on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM. All are invited to attend. The family would like to give a special Thanks to Androscoggin Home Health & Hospice for excellent care given to Roland for his last few days of his life.
