AUBURN – On Nov. 26, 2018, at 8 p.m., Shannon McCarthy-Roberts died in the presence of her family at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn.  Born in Princeton, N.J., raised in Princeton Jct. and Bethlehem, N.H., and educated at Sweetbriar College in Virginia, Shannon dedicated her life to relieving the suffering of animals. Shannon was a relentless advocate for the underdog.

She possessed an unceasing zest for life and internal strength that she shared with all who knew her. More than anything Shannon desired a simple life, with her family, on a small farm, growing organic produce and caring for her animals. She created this with Ben, Grace, and Marshall in their home in Leeds.

Shannon leaves behind her husband, Ben; their children, Grace and Marshall; her brothers, Sean and Chris; their wives, Jane and Kari; and her beloved nieces and nephews, Ula, Seamus, Finbar, and Alamea. She will be dearly missed by all her knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the Androscoggin Hospice House, the Dempsey Center, and Maine Medical Center Cancer Institute teams for the care they provided.

A celebration of Shannon’s life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15 (time and location to be determined and announced via Facebook). Arrangements are under the care of Wiles Remembrance Center 308 Franklin Rd. ( Rt 133), Jay, Maine. A kind word may be left on her memory wall at www.wilesrc.com.
