SCARBOROUGH – , 95, passed away peacefully Monday Dec. 3, 2018, at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough with his family by his side.

He was born in Manchester, N.H., on Sept. 21, 1923, the son of Napoleon and Virginie (Rondeau) Camire.

Joe served in the United States Marine Corps for 18 years during both World War II and the Korean Conflict then being honorably discharged in 1957.

Joe came home to the Lewiston – Auburn where he was employed for Sableman Shoe, and the

Bates Mill.

He had a great love for family, and is survived by five daughters, Jackie and husband John Moncey, Virginia (Ginny) Camire and husband Keith Madore, Rosemary and husband Robert Knight, Melody Camire, and Karen Camire and companion Tim Pelletier; One son, Lucien “Leo” and wife Anna Camire; his siblings, Armand and Jean Camire, Richard “Toots” and Jackie Camire. Dolores Lepage and Tony Camire and his companion, Patty. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Gid Pelotte, and a sister-in-law Dolly Eastman. Joe also leaves behind a companion Sue McNeil, and the mother of his children Mary Camire.

Also surviving are many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers.

The family would like to thank the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough for their loving care and support.

A Celebration of Joe’s life will take place Dec. 6. 11 a.m. in the Chapman Room of Gracelawn Memorial Park 980 Turner St., Auburn, Me 04210 concluding with United States Marine Corps military honors.
