LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Laura Mae Shattuck, 64, formerly of Lewiston, stepped from this life into the arms of her Savior, Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018. She had been in declining health for several years.

Laura was born a daughter of the late Gerald Leroy and Oresta Cecilia (Haines) Batten, on May 3, 1954 in Caribou. She attended local Caribou schools, graduating from Caribou High School, and then went on to graduate from Faith School of Theology, in Charleston. She also obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education from Ashford College.

After School, Laura was a Youth Leader and assistant Pastor for Bath Foursquare Gospel Church, Bath, and Pastored Full Gospel Tabernacle Auburn, and was principal of Auburn Christian Academy. She was employed for many years at Maine Public Broadcasting.

Laura was active in Calvary Chapel in Las Vegas, Nev. and attended Lewiston United Methodist Church before relocating to Las Vegas. In her free time she volunteered extensively and wrote poetry.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her identical twin, Lelia Batten; and a very dear aunt, Rev. Dorothy (Haines) Bristol.

She is survived by her beloved sons, Jedidiah “Jedi” and Jeremiah “Jade” Shattuck of Lewiston; two brothers, Rev. George Batten and his wife, Patti of Fairmont, W.Va. and Timothy Batten and his wife, Susan of Las Vegas, Nev.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday, December 13, at 3 p.m. at the Lewiston United Methodist Church, 59 Sabattus Street, Lewiston.
