GREENE — The cats and kittens of Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends, just like an orphaned child, have been disappointed year after year with no gifts of joy under their trees. Sadly, because of limited resources there is never enough funding for the toys of joy that bring so much happiness to the hearts of Tommy’s babies.

The feral cats in the wild spend all their sleepless time searching for food and avoiding predators, with hope of a safe and warm haven. Toys they’ve never seen or experienced, but once introduced into Tommy’s shelters it’s like seeing an enthusiastic child opening their Christmas presents left by Santa.

One Christmas Eve, during an unrelenting blizzard, the best gift given to Tommy’s team was when a mother cat discovered her Christmas Eve miracle and she and her litter were hauled back on a sled during one of the worst Maine snowstorms.

All the babies were in critical condition and were immediately entered in Tommy’s “House of Miracles” where the cat, Nurse Blue, went to work and aided in the recovery of the babies. Nurse Blue never left the side of one particular baby who needed extra loving care. Her loving devotion, they all believe, was the key to the healing of this sweet, lovable and playful female kitten.

On Christmas Eve, they named her Tinsel. Every Christmas at Tommy’s is special by celebrating kittens born on Christmas Day.

All the cats and kittens of Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends would appreciate any support of kindness and generosity in helping to give them the better life they so deserved. Donations can be sent to Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends, P.O. Box 274, Greene, ME 04236 or Pay Pal: http://tommysferalfelinefriends.com/donate.
