LEWISTON – Gary M. Adams, 68, of Lewiston and formerly of Auburn passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018, at Russell Park Manor in Lewiston, following a long illness. He was born in Lewiston on Nov. 27, 1950, the son of the late Kenneth and Esther (Beverly) Adams. He attended local schools in Auburn and was a graduate of Edward Little High School, class of 1969.  After high school, Gary attended Mid State College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and then attended Thomas College where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Education.

In 1973, he joined the United States Peace Corps and served two years as a business education teacher on the island of St. Vincent in the Caribbean. He owned and operated a tax and accounting business in Auburn known as Money Matters and later, GPA Tax Inc.

He married Pamela Wight in May of 1976. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Auburn, Tranquil Lodge, where he served in the chairs of Tranquil Lodge, Lewiston Lodge of Perfection of Jerusalem, H.H. Dickey Chapter of Rose Croix, Maine Consistory of Portland as well as the Kora Temple in Lewiston, where he was a member of the Kora Temple Concert Band and the Kora Temple German Band enjoying playing the clarinet and traveling on band trips. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 22 in Lewiston where he served as Commander for some time.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela, of Greene; his son, Kenneth Adams of Auburn; and his daughter, Amy Rainahaskell of Portland. He also leaves behind his two siblings, Bruce Adams of Minot and Mary Lavalliere of Lewiston; as well as his two granddaughters, Paisley and Jasper.

A memorial service celebrating Gary’s life will be held on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at 11 a.m., at the United Methodist Church, on Park Avenue, in Auburn.
