FARMINGTON — Are you feeling the winter’s chill? How about auditioning for a play? Next up for the Sandy River Players will be the three-act play “Icebound,” which was written in 1923 by Maine writer Owen Davis.

It won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama that year while appearing on Broadway. Later the play returned to Maine to be performed at Lakewood Theatre where Davis had close connections.

The story tells of a family in Veazie, who have many issues with one another, especially about who should inherit their mother’s farm and money. There are roles for 12 actors: one young boy, one mature teenage girl, five men and five women of varying ages. Some roles are small but most are quite large and will require a significant commitment.

Auditions will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, and 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at the SRP Playhouse on Starling St. in West Farmington. Dates for the performance are tentatively set for March 1-3 to be presented at the West Farmington Grange Hall.
