LEWISTON – Normand L. Marcoux, 79, of 250 Bates St., Lewiston, died at his home on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018. Born in Lewiston, on June 6, 1939, he was the son of Adrien and Jeannette Cote Marcoux.

Educated in Lewiston Schools, he was a graduate of St. Dominic High School, class of ’58. At age ten, he met “the girl down the street,” Claudette Bureau, and on Aug. 1, 1959, they became husband and wife.

Norm worked for the Sun-Journal for many years, starting as a paperboy and eventually working his way up in the Circulation Department. After retiring from the newspaper, Norm worked several jobs, including working sales for Lepage Bakeries, as a driver for United Wheelchairs, and stints at Cumberland Farms and Irving Oil.

In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and golf, and he always had a soft spot for animals and children. While he had no children of his own, Norm served as a foster grandparent for years, first in Lewiston schools and most recently, at the Riker Elementary School in Litchfield. He also enjoyed bowling, and for many years played for the Sun-Journal’s team in local leagues. Norm was also a talented trumpet player, and played with the St. Dom’s band and at Montagnards Club events. He also served for many years in the National Guard. A member of Holy Cross Church, Prince of Peace Parish.

He is survived by his loving wife, Claudette, of Lewiston; a sister, Lucille Marcoux, of Lewiston, a sister-in-law, Pauline Bureau, of Lewiston, and Jaimie Gutshall, of Lewiston, known to Normand as a daughter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, 11 a.m., at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Lewiston. Services will conclude with committal prayers and interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston. Donations and condolences may be found online at www.albert-burpee.com.
