ORONO – International students attending the University of Maine are interested in practicing their English speaking skills. Volunteers who enjoy helping and learning from others are encouraged to help out by participating in the two-hour training offered by Literacy Volunteer of Bangor and UMaine’s Office of International Programs.
Free training will be provided on Thursday, January 10 from 10 a.m.-noon at UMaine’s Graduate School in Stodder Hall. Snow date is January 17. After the training, each volunteer iwill be matched with an international student and together they meet weekly for one to two hours a week to talk in English.
