FARMINGTON – Marguerite Mary Slovak, 97, a former resident of Livermore Falls, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, at Sandy River Center in Farmington. She was born June 29, 1921, in St. Méthode, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Rosaire Couture and Anaise (Shink) Couture. On June 5, 1944 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay she married Frank J. Slovak. They enjoyed 57 years together before his passing Feb. 23, 2002. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, member of the Daughters of Isabella, Ladies of St. Anne and Livermore Falls-Jay Senior Citizens. Marguerite enjoyed sports, especially the Red Sox, Patriots, Duke and Notre Dame, and she spent many hours enjoying crafts. She loved devoting her time to her family and her home.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Roma and husband, Patrick, of Newry; son, Ronald Slovak and wife, Barbara, of Pawtucket, R.I.; grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew Roma, Kristen Nichols and husband, Scott, Derek Slovak and wife, Hannah, Jennifer Henriquez and husband, Ryan, Deborah Roberts and husband, Robin, Donna Spencer; great-grandchildren, Camden Nichols, Lyla, Liam and Kyle Slovak, Roma and Harlow Henriquez, Ronald Holland and wife, Jasmine, Alex Spencer and wife, Nina; and great-great-grandson, Nicholas Spencer; brother, Gilles Couture and wife, Anita; sisters, Muriel Desjardins, Georgette Sutton, Grace Hodge, and Patricia Couture; sister-in-law, Jeannette Couture as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Frank J. Slovak; daughter, Janine Spencer; son-in-law, Brian Spencer; great-grandson, Michael Holland; brothers, Toussainte, Emmanuel, Placide, Aurelien and Athanase Couture; sisters, Ange Marie Couture, Cecile Dupont, Blanche Bilodeau,  Carmel Garneau and Sister Marie Martha Couture. The family would like to thank the staff at Sandy River Center and Beacon Hospice for their care and compassion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 1 Church St., Jay, Maine. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 a.m., at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls, Maine. Interment in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery, 445 Park St., Livermore Falls, Maine.
