LEWISTON – Joseph J. LaBonte, of Lewiston, died at his home on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019. Born in Lewiston on Feb. 21, 1926, he was the son of John and Alberta Lebrun LaBonte. Educated in Lewiston schools, he worked in the local shoe industry for several years, and then worked in the Maintenance Department of Bates College for 25 years before retiring. On May 23, 1959, he married the former Agnes L. Cormier. He was a member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish.
He is survived by his loving wife, of Lewiston; a son, Gerard and wife, Karen, of Durham, a step-granddaughter, Ashley Laroche; and a great-step-granddaughter, Amelia Norton.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, at Holy Family Church, 607 Sabattus St., Lewiston.
