PARIS — Oxford Hills/Nezinscot Adult Education and Western Maine Community Action are partnering to provide a new professional welding program with Bancroft Contracting Corp.

The 92-hour program will offer students welding processes used by Bancroft Contracting Corp. and other local employers, including 72 hours of hands-on welding instruction, safety training and 20 hours of math for welders and job-readiness skills training. Students will learn how to produce high-quality welds. Testing on acquired skills will be conducted at the conclusion of the program.

The hands-on classes are tentatively scheduled to start Tuesday, Feb. 5, and will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. at Bancroft Contracting Corp., 29 Phillips Road, South Paris. Classroom instruction is scheduled for Wednesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on the campus of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, 256 Main St., South Paris. Orientation is planned for the last week of January.

Cost of the 12-week program is $1,955 and includes tuition, test and assessment fees, consumables and equipment and personal protective equipment.

Preregistration is required and includes a formal adult education student intake and assessment. Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act funding is available through Western Maine Community Action for income eligible candidates.
