LEWISTON — Law firm Berman & Simmons selected three local nonprofits to partner with during the 2018 holiday season: Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine, The Root Cellar and Community Cat Advocates.

The support is part of the firm’s continuing commitment to the communities it serves.

The Ronald McDonald House provides an affordable “home away from home” for families of children receiving medical treatment, so families can focus on the care of their children without the added stress of commuting between the hospital and home. The firm donated gifts and supplies.

The Root Cellar is an independently run nonprofit supported by volunteers from multiple area churches and denominations. Located in downtown Lewiston, The Root Cellar is committed to providing enriching services to neighboring youth and their families. Berman and Simmons donated coats, boots and toys for the children.

Community Cat Advocates is a locally run licensed program established to help the most at-risk cat population within Maine shelters: feral cats. Its mission is to help Maine become a no-kill state through its trap, neuter, return process. The firm’s donation included cat food, cleaning products, paper goods and feline medication.

Berman & Simmons is at 129 Lisbon St.
