LEWISTON — Lagers for Literacy promises to be a cure for the winter blues, offering an afternoon of games and hilarity lead by local comedian, Dawn Hartill.

As an expression of their support for community nonprofits, Baxter Brewing is co-hosting this event for the benefit of Literacy Volunteers-Androscoggin. The afternoon will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at The Pub at Baxter, 130 Mill St.

The event will feature a Jenga competition at 2:30 p.m. and an adult spelling bee at 4. All are welcome to show off their skills in one or both competitions, or simply drop in for a brew and watch the fun.

Registration is $5 per game per person, and all proceeds help provide literacy programs in Androscoggin County. Registration is not required but encouraged.

LV-A Board Member, Sam Boss, joins Baxter Brewing’s, Adam Platz, to finalize the plans for the upcoming Lagers for Literacy Event on January 27, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The Pub at Baxter.
