DURHAM – Elizabeth Bernadette Hood , 76, of 318 Pinkham Brook Rd., Durham, ME, died Thursday, January 3, 2019 at her home from cancer.

Was born October 21, 1942, Brooks, ME. She was adopted by George Albert Stimpson and Della Myrtle King Stimpson, her grandparents. Her bio mom became her legal sister.

Betty graduated from Crosby High School, Belfast, ME with highest grades in class. She studied to become a minister with materials from Zion but chose to marry and later attend the University of Maine at Augusta. Betty had a 4.0 average and was one semester away from getting her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology when the family called upon her to take in as foster daughter her niece. Elizabeth also studied dream study and was a member of ARE Edgar Caycee group. She studied Metaphysics with AMORC and became Master of Eastern Dawn Pronaos for a year.

Elizabeth married Ronald Perley Hood in First Church of Belfast, July 22, 1961 and stayed married 57 years.

During that time she worked for Lisbon Post Newspaper, both as columnist and editor. Shopping with Betty was her column which introduced small businesses. She was Girl Scout leader for Brownies and Junior Girl Scouts for several years. She later worked as team leader for telemarketing section of LL Bean. Her position was permanent and it was a three digit number yet she gave it up to travel with her husband who worked on nuclear power plants and shut downs. She painted, played the piano, knew English and French and was an Author. She wrote 2 books, Science Fantasy, not published and co-wrote with her daughter, Juli Fogg, 7 Science Fantasy novels published on Kindle by Amazon. Quest of the Terra Tappanare Series.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband Ronald P Hood, her daughter Juli Ana Fogg and husband Leland N. Fogg, her son Richard R. Hood and family, foster daughter Tina L. Harmon and family, Lincoln, ME and soul son Howard A. Hill. Survived by brothers: Charles Donald and family, William Donald, Daniel Dominey and family, Robert Dominey of Connecticut.

Predeceased by parents. Daughter-in-law WendyL. Hood, brothers Albert Dominey Jr., and Harold H. Dominey. Graveside services will be held in the spring.
