BRUNSWICK – Patricia (Patty) J. MacDonald, 81, formerly of Mexico, passed away peacefully, Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the Mid Coast Hospital, Brunswick. She had made her home with her daughter Lynn in Litchfield.

Patricia was born in Rumford on Feb. 25, 1937, the daughter of Frederick and Myrtle (Knauer) Milledge and graduated from Mexico High School and was the President of her graduating class of 1954. Patty was also head majorette, played basketball and was active in the glee club.

Soon after she graduated she taught school for a short time, and then became an airline stewardess. As the years passed, she held several bookkeeping jobs including Cottle’s Supermarket, Insituform of Waterville, Catalog Publishing Group in Florida and finally at Maynard’s Trailer Park in Topsham until her declining health would no longer allow it.

Patty reconnected with and married her high school sweetheart, John MacDonald, in 1989, who sadly passed within a few years of their marriage. They had lived in Daytona Beach, Fla. but she returned to Maine once she learned her daughter was expecting twins.

Known to her family as Gram, she was an exceptionally kind and loving mother and grandmother, devoting her life to her grandchildren. She loved to bake and made the best chocolate chip cookies along with many other sweet treats. She always put others first and would go above and beyond to make sure everyone’s needs were met before her own.

She is survived by her mother, Myrtle Milledge; her brother John Milledge and his wife Noreen, her brother Bob Milledge and his wife Jolene; her son Chris Rancourt and his wife Renee, her daughter Lynn LeClair and husband Tony; and three grandchildren that she adored, grandson Ian LeClair and his girlfriend Angela Cafarelli, grandson Tyler LeClair, and grandson Gregory LeClair and his girlfriend Sammy Grimaldi. She also had a special “adopted” son and family that she loved dearly, Steve Rancourt and his wife Lorna and daughter Megan. She is also survived by her aunt Geraldine Burns; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved kitties Suzy and Sully.

She was predeceased by her father Frederick; her brother Freddy; and her husband John.

A special thank you to CHANS of Brunswick for the wonderful care they provided to her. Also a heartfelt thank you to Jo-Ellyn Sturgeon of Brunswick for all the extra love, guidance and care she provided to Grammy Pat and family throughout her journey.
