WILTON — Four vehicles crashed Monday morning after a tractor-trailer truck stopped for a school bus on U.S. Route 2 West near the Carthage line, police said.
Daniel Villacci, 57, of Farmington stopped a tractor-trailer behind a bus that was stopped in the eastbound lane. A car driven by Samantha Knapp, 29, of Rumford slowed behind the rig, officer Kevin Lemay said.
An unknown SUV is reported to have passed Villacci’s and Knapp’s vehicles, prompting Knapp to pull to the right to avoid hitting it and ending up in a snowbank, Lemay said.
Avery Gendron, 20, of Waterford, Vermont, was braking his pickup truck behind Villacci’s car when Devon Langervin, 27, of Peru hit the tailgate of the truck and pushed it into the tractor-trailer, Lemay said.
No one was injured.
Gendron’s truck and Langerin’s Subaru were totaled, Lemay said. Knapp’s car received functional damage. The tractor-trailer was not damaged.
Anyone who witnessed the accident or saw the SUV passing vehicles is asked to call Lemay at 207-645-4222.
Wilton and East Dixfield fire departments and Dixfield police assisted Lemay at the scene.
