Introduction of U. S. Senator Warren G. Harding of Ohio as “the next Republican candidate for president of the United States” threw the annual McKinley Day banquet here last night into a demonstration which lasted for several minutes. Turning to the senator, the toast-master, J. J. Sullivan continued: “I believe the Ohio delegation to the next Republican National Convention will present and help nominate you for president.”
50 years ago: 1969
Harry W. Woodard Jr., director of the Auburn Housing Authority, discussed housing for the elderly project in Auburn before members of the Auburn Senior Citizens at a meeting held Wednesday at the First Universalist Church, Elm Street, Auburn. During his talk, he informed them of the expenses involved and explained just who would be eligible for the project. This included the fact that one had to be a citizen of Auburn for five years

Rugged Cross Shrine, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem will meet Friday at the Lewiston-Auburn Masonic Temple on Turner Street. The meeting is scheduled by Martina A. Earle of Auburn, worthy high priestess, for 7:30 p,m. to be followed by a ceremonial for four candidates.
