PARIS — The Board of Selectmen voted 4-0 on Monday night to approve a liquor license and special entertainment permit for The Hydrant, a new bar at 187 Main St.

Selectman Scott Buffington recused himself from the vote because he owns the building where bar plans to open.

Business owner April Harris said The Hydrant would be in the same location as the former Crazy 8 Billiard Hall, which closed last year.

She said the bar would be open six days a week, from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

“We renovated the building and put in the bar,” Harris told the board. “We upscaled it. We put in a new interior and new paint.”

Harris said the capacity of the building would be about 150, and there would be pool tables, ping pong “and the possibility for music.”

In other matters, the board voted unanimously to appoint Code Enforcement Officer Kingston Brown as an alternate on the Norway Paris Solid Waste board.

Selectman Gary Vaughn, who is also the president of the Norway Paris Solid Waste board, said after a member of the board resigned, the board voted to elevate one of its alternates to a regular member, leaving another alternate position open.
