Arthur D. Holman

AUBURN – Arthur D. Holman, 71, a resident of Jay, passed away, Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, at Hospice House of Androscoggin in Auburn, following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 22, 1947, in Farmington, the son of Cecil Holman and Hazel (McCourt) Holman. He was a 1965 graduate of Jay High School. He married Jean Richards and they had two sons, Darren and Dale. She passed away Feb. 10, 1990. Arthur later married Angie DiPompo and they made their home in Jay. He worked as a maintenance worker and millright for International Paper and Verso Paper in Jay until his retirement. He was a member of the International Paper Quarter Century Club, the Andy Valley Riders Snowmobile Club, and the North Jay Hunting Club. He was the owner of a stock car that had raced at Oxford Plains Speedway. He enjoyed socializing with his friends at Hilltop Collision Center in Jay, he especially loved traveling all over the United States and Canada, cruising and NASCAR.He is survived by his wife, Angie Holman of Jay; sons, Darren Holman and wife, Rachel, of Jay, Dale Holman of Portland; stepchildren, Rick Olsen of Livermore Falls, Rob Olsen of Emden, Darcie Pollis of Chesterville and Tracie Goriss of Gorham; grandchildren, Kyle and Austin Holman, Jason Olsen and Tanya Olsen, Desarae Blanchard, Lindsey Milligan, Alissa Pollis, Josh Olsen, Kayla Jewett, Hanna and Emily Goriss; sisters, Judy Martin of Jay and Anita Ladd and husband, Jon, of East Dixfield; sisters-in-law, Rita Hewett and Rosine Dolinski; brother-in-law, Bobby DiPompo and wife, Glenda; many nieces and nephews and special uplifting friend, Charlene Burnett. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jean Holman; his parents; stepson-in-law, George Goriss; brothers-in-law, Charles Martin, Bill Dolinski and Walt Hewett; cousin, Gary Holman; and aunt, Marilyn Lohnes.The family would like to thank Dr. Rausch and staff at CMMC and Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice House and staff.
