Sydney Roy, 4, is given a purple freeze pop by prekindergarten assistant teacher Adrean Doyon on the last day of class at Acadia Academy in Lewiston on Friday. Teachers lined the school parking lot to send their students off for summer. Students have been learning remotely since the charter school was closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Principal Brittiny-Rae Perron said teachers will be sending home learning packets and offering remote learning activities such as a virtual field trip to a farm, online art classes and an exploratory website in place of the school’s summer session. Acadia students typically go to school year-round. Daryn Slover/Sun Journal Buy this Photo
