LEWISTON – Troy W. Varney, 52, and Dulsie J. (Morris) Varney, 48, residents of Turner Center, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Troy was born Oct. 20, 1968, in Lewiston, the son of William Varney Jr. and Dianna Nickerson. He was a 1987 graduate of Leavitt Area High School in Turner and attended CMVTI in Auburn and University of Maine Orono. Troy adored the farm and animals, loving his day to day activities. He also owned and operated T.W. Varney Excavation. Troy was a 25 year member of the Turner Nezinscot Masonic Lodge #101.
Dulsie was born July 27, 1972, in Lewiston, the daughter of Roland Morris Sr. and Eva (Dudley) Leavitt. She was a 1990 graduate of Leavitt Area High School in Turner and received her associate degree of nursing from CMMC, her Bachelor’s degree from University of Maine at Fort Kent in 2017, and was to receive her master’s degree through University of Southern Maine in May of 2021. Dulsie worked as a nursing instructor for Lewiston Regional Technical Center in Lewiston. Dulsie was considered one of the best in her field. They were married on July 19, 1997, at the Norlands Church in Livermore. They made their home and raised their daughters on the Shermirley Farm in Turner Center. They were devoted to their community and would always be there to help whenever someone needed a hand. Troy was a loving family man and Dulsie will be remembered as a selfless caregiver, always putting others before her own needs. As soulmates they played well together at their home, their camp in Phillips, and along the trails, rivers and roads of life.
They are survived by their daughters, Audrey Varney and companion Michael Webber and Shelby Varney and companion Kristian Woodhouse, his parents, William Varney, Jr., and Dianna Nickerson and companion Donald Strickland, her mother, Eva Leavitt and husband Peter, his brother Trevor Varney and wife Heidi, half siblings, Caleb, Sarah and Rebecca Varney, her brother, Roland “Eddie” Morris, Jr. and wife Tracy, all of Turner, nieces and nephews, Hannah, Abby and Ethan Varney, and Elizabeth (Morris) Young and husband Rory and their three children, and Kyle Morris and wife Jade. Also, numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Troy was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Sherman and Shirley Varney and maternal grandparents, Bradley and Helen Nickerson. Dulsie was predeceased by her father, Roland E. Morris Sr., paternal grandparents, Arthur and Mary Morris and Perien Dudley and Laura (Libby) Giroux.
Public visitation will be held 2-5 p.m., on Saturday, February 20, at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine. Due to the COVID restrictions the funeral service will be private. Interment at Keens Mills Cemetery, North Parish Road, Turner, Maine followed by a Celebration of Life Gathering will be announced at a later date.
