WATERFORD — Jamie L. Toohey, a candidate for Waterford Select Board, today announced she will host a masked, socially distanced meet-and-greet event on Sunday, February 28th from 2-4 p.m. at the Bear Mountain Inn in Waterford.
Toohey has lived in Waterford for nearly two decades. She is an active community volunteer and advocate who will bring her leadership experience in education, finance, and communication to the position of Select Board member.
“I’ve met so many amazing people out on the campaign trail, but it’s become apparent that there are a lot of misconceptions about what I stand for, and I want to clear them up” Toohey explains. “For the record, I don’t want to limit ATV trail access nor do I want to build a by-pass through town. I encourage residents to reach out to me directly, visit my Facebook page, or attend one of my events to hear the truth straight from the horse’s mouth.”
Toohey is hosting the event to give residents an opportunity to get to know her and her values. Toohey’s platform of community engagement and enrichment is based on three pillars:
- Building strong, supportive relationships with Waterford’s residents and local businesses.
- Protecting Waterford’s natural assets and beauty.
- Ensuring sound management and fiscal responsibility.
“Perhaps having to clear up misconceptions is just a part of politics, but it feels so divisive. I want people to know that as proud citizens of Waterford, I hope to bring people together for the greater good,” Toohey says. “Throughout my career I’ve worked tirelessly to build up people and to bring people together in community, and I refuse to let fear divide our town. Truth and integrity matter.”
Early absentee voting is now open to all residents at the Waterford Town Office. Election Day is Friday, March 5th and polls are open from 1–6 p.m.
