Francis P. McAvoy

LISBON – Francis P. McAvoy, 91, formerly of 2 Tucker Street, Lewiston, died Monday, March 1, 2021, at the Lamp Memory Care in Lisbon where he had been a resident for the past several years.

Born in Boston, Frank was educated in Roxbury schools. On Feb. 15, 1959, he married the former Monique T. Boucher in Boston, and they moved to Lewiston to start a family.

Frank worked several jobs over his career, lastly as a supervisor at Union Power Company. He enjoyed stamp collecting and taking long walks, and was very involved in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts with his sons. In later years he volunteered at both CMMC and St. Mary’s hospitals.

A member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish, he is survived by two sons, James of Lewiston and John of Maryland, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, who passed away in 2008, and a daughter, Mary Anne Waite, who passed away in 2020.

Visitation will be held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home on Sunday, 2 – 4 p.m. Services will be Monday, 11 a.m., Holy Family Church. Interment, St. Peter’s Cemetery.
